Crow's Landing

Here is the finished piece, "Crow's Landing". I couldn't get a good pic of it, or this is as good as it's gets. Really, in person, you have to walk close to see the detail on the face of the figure. There are other details in the photo and real life that you would have to loo to find. It's not in Harrodsburg for the "Haunted" exhibit they are having through the Mercer County Art Council. They have a real nice gallery space there that I had  not idea was there. I liked what they had and sometime this week I'll take another piece down there. I'm touching up another piece that I've worked on in the past, but I'll post that one later. It will have a GHOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Crow's Landing

More work on the Halloween painting, "Crow's Landing". I thought I was going to pass out an hour or two ago and me eyes are burning, but hey, nothing happens when I do nothing. I added another Crow since last time, actually he, or she, is only about an hour old. I think I need some more strange things to put it over as "creepy". I do have the Crow skull. I want to get the creep factor going without going too far. I'll think more tomorrow, I have to deliver this Saturday. AAAAnd by the way, I was wrong. Last Friday in Paris we only did the Reception night for the Creative Harvest Festival, not the barrels. Tomorrow night the Reception for the barrels will happen, but the paintings will still be on the walls. I think that will produce a better chance for selling a piece. "Resting" is the painting in that one, and it won a ribbon for 2 dimensional piece. I'll take a pic and post it tomorrow or Friday. It's nice to get that.

Halloween pic

I'm trying to make the deadline for this Halloween show in mercer County. This is what I have so far, but it's a bad pic. That's Ok, this is just to give an idea of how it looks, I'm not done yet. I'm hoping to get just enough done to get in the show, and then continue to make it better. Sooo much to do and soo little time. I like the perspective of the figure for this one, I haven't done that before.

Lexington Gallery hop

Tomorrow(also Sept. 21st) I'll have this painting, Stream Walker, at the Christ Church Cathedral on Market Street. It's part of the Gallery Hop and it also runs from 5-8pm. Not sure when I'll be there, but I will as soon as I'm done with my other exhibit in Paris. If you around stop by and see the other Artists too.

Creative Harvest in Paris Kentucky-not France

I love this painting, but maybe I can sell it tomorrow (Friday the 21st) at the Creative Harvest Festival in Paris. It's at the Hopewell museum in Paris and it starts at 5pm. I think it runs til 8. There will be other great Kentucky Artist
like Tina Rogers and my good friend Patrick Lynch. The barrel that I did earlier this year will be there too. Say hi if you see me, I'm not sure the exact time I will be there though because I have to also make an appearance at my other group show in Lexington which leads me to my next post.

Halloween Painting

Here is the Drawing I did for the Halloween piece. After working on the figure I decided to work on the background by completely making it up and drawing a Crow I found on Google Images. So the finished piece won't have this background but I was up late in a hotel room with nothing to do but draw when I did this. And that's ok, I enjoyed it a lot. It's hard to get time like that. I drew this from a print out I took with me. In the print out you could not see the whites of her eyes like you could on the computer screen. For the purposes of Halloween, I decided I liked this look better.

New Drawings

Hi folks!!! I've been working on a bunch of drawings this week for upcoming paintings. Drawing is a muscle that needs flexing and I lose it a bit when I just paint, so this past week had been lots of practice drawing magazine adds, comics book pictures, my feet, hands, just what ever I find and then working on the modeled scenes for paintings. I don't want to show them all at once so here are two. The bottom one isn't done yet but here is what I have so far. I'm also getting ready for a Halloween painting I have to get done for a show real fast. That will be in Harrodsburg.  I'll post more aboot it later.

Inspiration_Thomas Mcknight

I'm doing some things this week and I can't post the drawings I"ve been working on , but I got some good ones. Two of which will be used for a Halloween show I hope to get it to, so stay tuned. So for now I want to show an artist that really inspired me in the late 90's. I worked a Paper route (Don't do it, trust me) before class and afterward I'd eat at the McDonald's on Richmond road and eat breakfast. They have these prints of Thomas Mcknight and I just love them. Well, sadly now they are faded. I used to want them badly though. His kind of art is not what I want to do, but the kind I want to buy. I love to look at what he does. He learned his style while living in Greece when he was young and it worked for him. A few years ago though he was sued by a gallery for a million dollars. I think he won, but I thought,"Wow, he's worth enough to even be sued for a million"?! Oddly, even that inspired me. http://thomasmcknight.com/

The Box

You can see now what I had in mind with this jewelry box. I added the actual art work, Sundown in the Fields, just to get a good idea of the image that the other pics may not convey. The original piece is a Color Pencil piece that I'm rather proud of. I wanted to make a piece that had a really good portrait of my friend Britney. And I was also really happy with my Shaker town background. I made this really awesome frame only to discover, after 2 weeks of working on it, the frame was too small-both up and down! So while I'm waiting for time to build another really good frame, here is this. I'll put it on Etsy here soon. I still want to do a few things to it. Maybe line the inside with fancy paper!

Gray's Arch 3!!!

I worked on this over Friday and Saturday, I just didn't have time to take the pic off my camera. I thought a pure landscape is long over due, and I really like Gray's Arch in the Red River Gorge so I did at least my third painting of it. The other two sold, so this is been a good spot for me to paint. I'm still working on the jewelry box, but I'm struggling with that a bit so I decided to do something else and re group. I'll talk more aboot that when I post it. Have fun!
