As the Leaves Fell She Wept

Well, I finished my piece titled As the Leaves Fell She Wept. Two weeks ago we did a modeling session with this great model. She is one of those people who impresses you more and more every time you meet them, both as a person and a model. Anyway, I haven't done much from up above pics like this. When I took the picture I was only eight feet above her or so standing on a large rock, but this looks much higher to me and I like the effect.
I have been doing paintings of another model for about the last year and she is great too, but this will give me a chance to do someone a little different and with a darker skin tone. I had practically memorized the other girl's skin tone, so this will be a change. The hair color is more reddish brown, where the other one has really dark brown hair, so this will be a new challenge too. I guess I should start on another painting so everyone have fun and take care!
Oh, and I made this little phrase about this painting "The scene is of a model sitting while remembering the summer days that brought her so much joy, but now she feels the day, and the warmth of the season slip away. Will her joy continue to slip away as the darkness comes and the season changes? Or will she embrace the darkness and cold to thrive in a different season of nature? I bet the latter"! http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmalissa0

Prayer Among the Trees II

Prayer Among the Trees II, this is the painting I finished last week. This is one of those, where every new work just happens to be your favorite one. That's what I going through right now. That's a good sign I think, because then I feel like I'm improving my craft. I am having more fun with paint than I used to, where I usually do a lot of color pencil. I feel that my style stays the same with both mediums, so I'm glad that I enjoy my performance in both. Every one take care and have fun! http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmalissa0

An update

Well, one day and I'm back. I thought I'd just show more of what I'd done last night. I filled in a lot of color, now I can begin more detail work. I just went through some of the photos from this modeling session, and I can't wait to do more of these paintings. I think they will be very nice. I actually enjoy doing ground work, all the leaves brown and green, and tree roots and sticks. It can be very fun. Everyone take care and have fun! Cliff

New Painting

Hey, I'm working on a new painting that I haven't titled yet(I think I usually have a title idea at this point at least) of a model on the ground. I have done some, but not much work where there is no sky at all, and only ground. I'm looking forward to this one a lot.
I photographed this model last weekend, and she is awesome. She had modeled earlier Sunday for a few hours in a drawing class, then rode with me and hiked for a good spell to model. You hear a lot about the artists, but not much about the models and others who help them live out their dream. In the future I may do a blog about the models I use.
And that's not to forget my wife who does so much I can't tell you. At times she had modeled. She introduced me to a great model and friend, and has helped me with all things computer. So remember if you are looking at mine, or someone else's art, even people like Pino and Christian Lasen, they are getting lots of help to do what they love and they ( or I should say we) are very blessed.

Among Giants now on Ebay

Well, I just put Among the Giants on Ebay http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmalissa0
I have been working on a series of smaller paintings for this purpose. Most of my paintings would cost a lot for shipping because I like to work big, both in painting and color pencil work. Actually for me, it's not the landscape, but the figure is hard to do this small. She's probably about 3 inches tall. But I'm happy with this one and hopefully some Ebay buyers will too. I have a new painting for the blog. I may do it tomorrow night or Friday. I have yet to get a good photo and I need sunlight. Everyone take care and have fun!

They like me! They really really like me!

Hey all! Well, I submitted for a exhibition with the Color Pencil Society of America and made it in. You can see the website and all the artists who were accepted at http://www.cpsa.org/
I'm stoked about it, and glad they let me in! I had a lot of rejections in the past so I haven't even done anything like this in a while. It's good to be liked. The accepted piece above is Awaiting the Sign. You seen me work this piece out step by step on this blog. If you didn't see it, you can go one page back on older post at the bottom of the page and see it. It's neat to bring it back to the blog to announce some success. Everyone, take care and have fun!

The Ebay Stuff

Well, it took me a while but I put some of my prints on Ebay to see how they will do. So far I have Raven's Home, Haunting of Anglin, and In Search of the Totem out there. These are prints, and two of the original paintings are currently hanging at the Gladie center at the Red River Gorge. You may have trouble finding them on Ebay so here is the link http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZmalissa0

Everyone take care and have fun!
