Yet Another Work

Hi and hello. I haven't done this in a while, I've been busy and I recently sold a painting and a print, so I'm happy. I will be in Paris KY during their next Art Walk. I'm thinking about selling some prints there too for those who don't want to pay for a painting. When I find artists I like I like to buy books of their work. I'll make another one one day. I have one, but it's only one. Anyway, here's my newest work. You can see my drawing of the model and I used tracing paper to get that drawing on the matboard, then I started with the color pencils. I still have light issues to think about along with fleshing it all out. Soon as I get this puzzle thought out I'll put a finished pic on the blog. Like the last one, I get to struggle with the filtered light that hits the trees, ground, and rock wall. The rocks near the model were fun though, I like those a lot. Everyone take care and have fun!

Dancing Light

Hey! I finally finished this one. It's a color pencil piece I've been working on for a while. The size is about 18 x 12 inches, a lot smaller than I am used to. This was done from another photo taken at the Anglin Falls, but this time with a different model. Actually, I haven't done much work with her in a while, but I will soon and I am looking forward to it. She's a great model and a great person. I did the sketch of her a year or so ago and dropped her into this scene. I had a blast with the composition of the piece, but the lighting was a bit to work out. Hey, as all things in life worth doing, it's a learning experience. I also had a time trying to make the reflecting light on the cliff face behind her look right. That's a new one, I usually just avoid those, but this time I went for it. Light sneaking down between the leaves is so abstract yet you know it when you see it bouncing off a rock wall. I like what I got but I will certainly do more in the future and get it down. You guys take care and have fun!

Awaiting the Sign Finished

I thought I'd show this one, I finished it the other day. Earlier I had shown the process of drawing it, and how I apply that drawing to the drawing surface. I gave it the name Awaiting the Sign. I have always been intrigued at the thought of going to nature for guidance, or some may say mental clarity. I think you can get both. I have done it several times, when being down or even when making career decisions. Nature often brings peace and clarity, and exercise so think about that next time you are on a hike and enjoy yourself. Take care and have fun!

The Good Foods and Market Show

The Good Foods Cafe and Market is up at Southland Drive in Lexington. This is the pic I took after hanging it. I had to wait for everyone to leave to hang the show and take the pic, but that's part of it. It will be up until the end of the month. Hanging it was fun because I know several of the employees, as well as the customers, so it was a little bit of a social event. Some of the customers had bought some of my work before, and one employee plans to buy a piece from a previous show, so I'm happy. I like Good Foods a lot, partly because they support local farmers and their food is healthy and won't kill you like a lot of other food out there. Take care and have fun!
