Step by step

Here's some of the steps for my next painting. You can see where I drew the figure, scanned and printed the drawing, much smaller, and put the white chalk on the back so I could transfer the image to my painting surface. That surface is a 7x5 inch piece of wood. It's really different painting so small. When I started painting, nearly everything was at least 4x3 feet. One piece is 5x6 feet in size. Some people actually told me they couldn't buy some of the paintings they wanted because the paintings were too big. One patron  had her Mother "babysit" a painting she bought from me until her and her boyfriend moved to a larger apartment. No problem like that with these.  See the cats? Julie is on your left and Toby is on your right.

Sacred Places

I hope everyone will see this one. I finished this one I have titled Sacred Places. It's an oval piece about 5x7inches in size and one of the smallest pieces I've ever done. It's of the Yahoo Falls in Southern KY. I believe it was sacred to the Cherokee Indians, and probably many of the visitors who come there every year. It's the tallest Water Falls in KY and there is a story about Cherokees being ran off the top of the falls to their deaths by soldiers. I've also read that the story is not true, so I'm not sure what to think. If anyone is interested you can read about it here. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~brockfamily/ChiefRedBird-atYwahooFalls.html

New Piece

I'm a little further to being done than what is in the picture, but I haven't got a good photo yet. This piece is 5x7inches, so it's a little bit of a challenge. I'm not using much paint though, so that's a good thing. I might do a You tube clip again soon about this piece, so I'll let everyone know about that if I do it. Everyone take care and have fun!

Yahoo Falls

Well, here is a good part of my process. You can see how I shrunk my drawing down(it's under the pencil. I scanned it in and re-sized it in Paint-shop Pro) and printed it along with the picture of the landscape. I drew it out on my little plague thing and now the challenge is to paint so small. This will take some work, but I'm ready to give it a go. The waterfall in the background is Yahoo Falls, the tallest one in the state. Really neat place to hike if you are near Cumberland Falls. It's about 15 miles West. Everyone take care and have fun!

New drawing.

I'm still working on the piece below, but I needed a break from all the Green involved in it. I worked on a drawing for my next piece. A good friend of mine posed recently at the Yahoo Falls. That's in Southern Ky. The tallest Falls in Ky in fact. She is also a great model so this piece should be good. BUT, the nine inch drawing you see will have to be shrunk down to about 2 inches or so. I'm painting on some smaller pieces so I can put them on Etsy. Shipping is a killer, so I'm going to try this. I hate working small, but maybe this will have some sales on Etsy. I sold that piece a few weeks ago, but I needs more money. Everyone take care and have fun!

New artwork

Here is what I have so far. Not sure of the name for this yet. The colors are a little off, my photo is not so good but you get the idea. The leaves are a little of a pain, but I think it's going to look good when I'm done. I'll have to get a good photo too. Everyone take care and have fun!
